Born and raised in El Paso in a family of lawyers, being a lawyer myself was almost predetermined. My academic career began in earnest in sunny San Diego, where I attended San Diego State University for college. Graduating magna cum laude and a Phi Beta Kappa member in 3 years, my passion for helping others sparked during this time while working in the SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program’s Chronic Illness Research Laboratory. My mentorship’s area of research was on pediatric cancer survivors, giving me a perspective on life I’ll never forget.
While I loved California, I returned home to Texas to attend SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas. A lifelong Cowboys fan, Dallas stole my heart. During my time in law school, my work as a Student Attorney for the VanSickle Family Law Clinic solidified my interest in family law. Assisting low-income pro se litigants with their family law issues, I was able to guide real people through what may seem like a complex legal system. I learned that the best way to help others meant more than just listening to a problem – it meant having the ability to take action. That’s where my practice as a family lawyer comes in. I’ve maintained an active practice in divorce, child custody, modification, and termination/adoption matters. I look forward to helping you take action for your family.
