My career in Texas Family Law started right after graduating from South College of Law in 2011. At the first law firm I worked out of law school, I began assisting with cases involving complex marital property issues and highly contentious child custody disputes while gaining hands on experience in the discovery process, drafting of legal documents, and attending mediations. From there, I spent almost 9 years at two different firms continuing to work on complex marital property cases and highly contested child custody disputes, sitting second chair at several jury trials, binding arbitrations, depositions, mediations and other contested hearings and started sitting first chair at certain trials, temporary orders hearings, depositions, and several mediations. Over the years, I have developed a specific interest in cases dealing with the characterization and division of marital property and all of the law related thereto as well as for cases that involve general contract law as it relates to family law. In my day to day work in family law, I enjoy investigating the nature and extent of my client’s assets and liabilities in order to prepare his or her inventory and appraisement of assets and liabilities and I enjoy gathering all of the necessary documentation to help a client prove his or her separate property claims by the appropriate clear and convincing standard. I also very much enjoy getting to know my clients on a personal level and the satisfaction of getting them the results to which the law dictates they are entitled.
I joined the communicative, organized and team oriented legal family of Walters Gilbreath in October 2022. Walters Gilbreath supports it’s associates and staff and gives them the tools necessary to be as successful as possible. I enjoy collaborating with my Walters Gilbreath colleagues every day to ensure the best results for all of the clients at the firm. From me, my clients can expect a lawyer who is approachable, easy going, generally available, honest, reasonable, and responsive. My clients can expect to hear from me what they need to hear, though not always what they want to hear. My clients can also expect a lawyer who is ready and willing to roll up his sleeves and go to work in advocating for them as loudly as possible.
I am a native Houstonian, a seventh generation Texan and a second generation Harris County, Texas family law attorney. I am also a husband to an amazing woman and father to three sons who I enjoy spending as much time with as possible. Outside the courtroom, I enjoy cooking, playing golf, traveling, enjoying new experiences, and having very in-depth conversations about the Star Wars, Marvel and DC Universes.
Extremely thankful and pleased with my experience with Jacob! End results were better than I could have hoped for because of him. Highly recommend!!

Jacob handled my case beautifully. He communicated with me almost daily on the process and I felt and know that he was working in my best interest from start to finish. I was shocked at how quickly we were able to get this done which I know is not the normal scenario, he made sure that I was taken care of not only in the mean time but for the future as well.
